Thomas Paine~ The American Crisis
When is a nation the strongest and when is it the weakest? The answer to this question I felt was answered by Thomas Paine in this piece of writing. He states "... I call not upon a few, but upon all: not on this state, but on every state; up and help us; lay your shoulders to the wheel; better have too much force than too little, when so great an object is at stake." In this statement he is saying that we need to come together as a nation not as individual states. When you come together as a large group you have more power then if you were in smaller groups. When you have something that is very important to you why risk that by not having a big group that can get the job done and get the outcome you want.
